Was wondering that myself. . i have the 68RFE and I tow a heavy 15K 5th. . stock power and all. . Just had a duh moment where my last tow, I forgot about the tow mode for pulling. . (tow/haul switch). . Seems when pulling in 6th and a slight rise comes up, it downshifts. . if the R's were up above 2000 it might hold but didn't want to rev in 5th on relatively flat roads. . Read the info on it again. . and the feedback from a couple of people. . seems like just the thing I need. . wish it wasn't $1175 though

Eric,

One of the things I do with my 68 is to watch the road ahead and when I think the trannie will downshift- I at the bottom of the hill while the cumminz is not in a lug I go ahead and downshift using the paddle switch. It is much less stress on the trannie. At the top of the hill I shift the paddle to #6. It will save your trannie in the long run.

I do the same thing. When on the down hill, I shift to 5th if I know it is going to need to down shift on the next hill any ways. Most the time the wife doesn't even notice, and we don't loose any speed or momentum in the shift.
