Just had the folks at ATS Diesel Performance here in Denver put in a South Bend Clutch for me. What an operation they have there! They are a wealth of knowledge, have a great show room/waiting area :) . I had to hold onto my wallet as one can get easily carried away there. Twin turbos, exhaust manifolds, FASS system, etc.

Boondock, I payed with a credit card. Do you know someone that has had problems with them? I've talked to a couple of my buddies that have used them and they all have been very satisfied.

Opps I meant how much did you pay to have it installed... . I have to order my SBC FE soonSorry about making you think that way.

Mixed things about the transmissions and customer service.

If you are planning on doing it yourself, I'd order it from Poole. They were $200 cheaper on the part than ATS was ($160 after you pay the $40 shipping). I've done clutches before on smaller vehicles, but didn't really feel like messing with the truck. I called ATS and asked them about the price difference. They said they don't sell as many as Poole probably does, so they couldn't come down on the price of the part. So, they said they would come down $200 on the labor. Total labor and parts for the MU 1947 CON OFE was about $1600 and some change.

you guys sound like you've got 4x4's, but anyone w/ a 2wd truck, I'd say DIY if you've done cars before in the past... with a transmission jack, there's really nothing to it.

Heck - other than the front driveshaft, the TC linkage, and the CAD vacuum lines a 2WD is the same as a 4WD. Like Forrest said - just do it. I needed a good sized transmission jack for my NV5600/TC combo, but did it in front of my house on the street. 4 hours to drop the transmission/plate/flywheel, and about 6 hours to put everything back together.
