I'm thinking that the multi disc converters have something to do with the current rise in billet input shafts breaking. Any thoughts on this guys??

A multi-disk setup correctly is no different than a single disk other than the holding ability. A multi-disk hooking hard is a bit hard on shafts but billet shafts have been handling that for years with little or no problems.

I would be more inclined to think there is an alignment problem somewhere than a flex plate not flexing enough. If a plate has to flex that much to address a bind on the input shaft something is major wrong.

Makes perfect sense. Just seems like a lot of guys are breaking/having problems with the newer billet shafts which may come from a quality control on the metal or the builder of the shafts. I've just been a little leary of making that transition from my single disc to a multidisc converter.

Man that sucks considering I had those same parts installed recently In my 06 and after hearing about this I called the shop I purchased it from they said they were sorry that untill now they were unaware of the warrenty fine print. Ive seen S ALEX around DDP for a few years now and we are not really friends so Im not tying to come to his defense but he has allways taken finacial and personal responsibility for all the broken parts it takes to get to where his truck is at, so for S ALEX to go through this much crap it sounds like time for me to switch shafts before my transmission is toated like his... .

Hey digger, long time no see. I really hope no one else has to go down this road, it is financially taxing on me and my family( new baby and all). I really wish I coulda done some other improvements to my truck this year ( intercooler, larger bottom turbo, kore suspension) but with this being over 4 times my transmission has been out in a years time. The thought of 5k plus for another new transmission is makeing me ill. But I am glad Bill Kondolay stepped up and explained the problems hes had and what he thought about the new retroactive warranty. I hope all is well with your new truck, you should come out to dinner with us all some friday. We go to canyons nearly every friday, and sometimes stay till saturday. Steve

I have personally broke two billet imputs shafts, and I currently run an ATS flexplate, The inputs were from ATS and because of the situation both were covered under warranty. however because of all the problems I have had a backup trans built using IE shafts, including the Di martino and the six speed output. I will use the Reactor flex plate with this transmission because of Warranty reasons. I am currently on my fourth ATS billet trans and I am still using the ATS flexplate. ATS claimes to have changed vendors for this third input, so far 3000 miles and a few 15psi boost launches. no problems yet

Salex Have been following this over on the other board until the moderartor shut it down. Back before he lost his right to post on this board Bill K had a post on here lambasting solid flexplates and multidisk convertors but this was before he sold either one, now he sells both.

He is a hell of a transmission man and I have run his parts for years but some times his views tend to fit the heat of the moment.

i broke a stocker with a ATS 3 lock converter... ... but there are guys on here at over 800hp on a stock flexplate with a single disc converter..... so IMO it has to do with the converter you are running..... the ATS was soft until it hit lock-up and i know thats the reason it took out the flexplate

i have run both converters and it is night and day difference

We never quit using the aluminum flexplates because they failed. To date we only lost one. Per the manufacturer they felt it was due to installation. The reason we were forced to quit using it was because of the height.

You must have a minimum of an eighth of an inch forward and backward movement, that is not an option that is just what it has to be and it was not possible to get that on every single unit without TC modification. There were just too many variables. It did not matter if it was single disc or multiple disc the issue would be the same.

When we were using it we made sure our TC’s fit. On a new installation job it is not an issue as it is a matched set. The problem arose if someone broke their factory flexplate we could not just ship the aluminum plate and say hey put this one in there. As we did not want to make the flexplate any thinner it was no longer a viable option.

I wouldn't run the stock flex plate for sure, I have seen a stocker snapped on PBax's truck with just a TST and MP8. Stock turbo and all, say maybe 470hp. 600hp will twist it like a tuna can... . the stock FP is sooooo dang cheesy too.

He is still waiting for his DTT plate ordered in November. #@$%! :D

DTT flexplate has been in stock for a few weeks now.....

and as of Friday the billet flex plate and output shaft are now on my truck.

can't say enough good things about my DTT builder, James Northum Oo.
