I just purchased new "ATS" manifold. Anyone have any ideas on how to get that 3 piece iron apart, without damaging it?

Also would like to polish the inside, any ideas on what tools to use?

If it is already together and you want to take it apart for porting/polishing then your going to need a torch and some good sturdy 4x4 pieces of wood about a foot long or so. Mine was apart before I ported it, but after I got it together it needed some adjusting to get the flanges on the cyl. head to line up. So, heat up the unions where it goes together, lay it on the ground and put the piece of 4x4 wood on the flat part of the exit of the middle manifold piece. Then make sure the outer manifold piece is being held or stepped on(a vise would work better if you have one)and just hammer the middle section away from the outer section. May take quite a few swings and heat to get it but it should come right off. Penetrating oil can help as well to get it to slide off better.

Going back together, just freeze the outer pieces and heat up the middle section and it will go together even easier than taking it apart.

The biggest gain will come from correcting the port match. Beyond that you will spend a huge investment in time w/small gains

Bob, can you help me out here, I not sure I follow what you're trying to tell me. Is it that the head doesn't quite match up to the manifold?

Look at the ports in the manifold,they are nice right at the flange,but taper into the port. blend the port all the way into the main runner and call it good.
