Just wondering if anybody else is having trouble with their ATS TransCommand not unlocking when coming to a stop. Mines been doing this off and on for bout a year. Only two ways I can drive with this going on. 1) If I start to feel it, pop it in neutral. 2) Turn the box off. You can imagine what happens when I come to a stop with things locked up. . . somethings gotta give somewhere. Either the engine is going to turn over or it hops the rear end of the truck. Can be a feat when loaded with a three axle fiver sitting on the axle. Got a new yoke and U joints in Indiana, hauled a load to the west, didn't like what I felt so I stopped off at ATS Wheat Ridge, CO. They said my yoke was spread and needed to be replaced. So I paid them $177 to throw in a new one. Continued on. . . Billings, Montana shop took a look, said side bearings in the R&P were marginal, and they replaced the U joint again. Continued on but chickened out in Eugene, Oregon. Things were really vibrating and I was afraid I'd break on the road. Had Mr Scout replace side bearings in R&P, said everything else looked ok. But when he test drove it he commented, what the hell's going on with that transmission when you come to a stop? I said that's my beefed up ATS towing transmission. Well, made it to destination with the trailer, dropped an headed back to Pedleton, OR. Hooked a shorter tag trailer and dropped it in Wyoming and returned to Bristol, Indiana. Had Dave's Diesel, Angola, In take a look. He said he thought it would make it back to Colorado, but to stop and ask ATS what I should do about the yoke spreading again. So I'm curious if others are having any troubles with the box not releasing.

Hey OT

You need to get with Clint or Will at ATS 1-800-949-6002 it sounds like you have your settings on your Commander are set to aggressively. The Commander has a bank of about 8 "dip" switches located on the Commander which controls the Torque Converter setting as they interface with your trucks ECM. I went through a lot of playing with mine on my 99 before I got it where I wanted it. I have to tell you Will is great. The people at ATS really stand behind their product and will work with you to get it ironed out. I had a really good experience with them. :D

Actually, it's set just like they had it set when they gave it back to me after installing it. But I'm checking with them.

Steve

I forgot to mention before about the four LED's. When using the arrow up and down buttons I would play around with mine. With the far left light lit (lowest speed for lock up) and the "DIP" switches set where I had them(I whish I could remember the settings)I could get lock up in 1st gear around 20 MPH and continue 2nd thru O/D locked up and if left in this setting and tried to come to a very fast stop the truck would display the symptoms you mentioned in your post (dragging the wheels). However if you were to bring the truck to a slower stop the TC would indeed unlock at 20 MPH. But I gotta tell ya that is one sweet set up once you get her dialed in.

Hope I helped a little.

Well I hope they can get mine working right, I've had better than a fair share of grief with it.

Are you sure it's the TC ? I had a problem like that on my dads truck and it was the OD. When coming to a stop it would display the same symptoms as yours, but if i hit the OD off button it would stop doing it.

Now with the commander set to lock the TC at around 37 MPH, it seems to still drag the truck some before it unlocks the OD.

OTRPU good luck. Hope they get you up and running soon!!!
