New ATS transmission and Triple Loc Converter was installed yesterday. Oo. What a difference, Lockup, SOLID shifting, it feels like a totally different truck. I never thought I would see the speedometer climb faster than the RPMS. No longer is the engine challenging the transmission. Now it seems the transmission is challenging the engine. What a problem, guess now I have no other choice but to modify the fuel & air components to increase horse power. Told the wife about this new dilemma but I assured her that it’s not going to cost much.
(She never believes me) :-laf
ATS pre-qualified the installation shop in-order to obtain the 3-year warranty. It was the same shop (Jim Jennings Transmissions) that installed Brian Hale’s transmission. They are great folks and have a superior quality control program. Last night after picking up my truck I noticed there was a steady fluid leak at the differential.
Prior to installation I was told that they always replace the input and output seals. I assumed that one of the new seals was bad. So on my way to work I stopped by and told them about the leak. The manager apologized and said they would fix it immediately. After he reprimanded the entire shop for not giving my truck a thorough check over, :-{} three mechanics and a shop supervisor stopped what they where doing and started the repair. Come to find out it wasn’t the input or output seal but the seal between the yoke and the differential. Not something they would have touched. I really felt bad for getting everyone in hot water. After completing the repair they cleaned the entire undercarriage, took it for a test-drive and then back on the lift for a final inspection. The entire ordeal took less than 2 hours, and the best part was they didn’t charge me anything. I would highly recommend Jennings for anyone needing transmission work in the Maryland area.
Can’t wait to hook up the 5er this weekend and head for the mountains for the real test.
