I bought an ATSG Transmission manual on Ebay. Before I bought it, I asked the seller if his book covered 47re transmission. He said yes. When I got it the manual references only 42rh (A500) - 46RH (A518) - 47RH (A618).

It made no reference to 47re. I emailed him back & he replied with: the 47rh & 47re are the same trannys. Just that the "h" stands for hydraulic & the "e" stands for electronic. I can understand that but is there really no difference in the 2 transmissions?

I'm not a transmission person at all. Thats why I got the book- to educate myself a bit about how it works & what it looks like inside. Will this book mislead me? It appears that the seller owns a transmission shop in Florida & sells manuals too.

It does cover the hard parts mostly. But they are not the same as the 47re has electronic controls and these are not in the manual that you have.

Go buy a factory service manual for your truck, it covers much more. Also has torque specs and better pics.
