NEW use for Shop Vac to solve an odd problem

Fireball Tools redesigns the Vise Grip welding clamp

Thanks for the info. I'm asking because on the property we just got is a 36x40 shop - 10' high ceilings (I know - should have waited for a taller shop). I'll be studding it out and insulating it. I got a "free" 44,000 btu propane heater and 2.5 ton A/C unit. The A/C should be fine, but the heater will most likely be not enough. At 92% efficient, that is 41,000 output of heat. So I'll either compliment it with a wall "blue flame" unit or just use the 110,000 BTU kero torpedo heater to warm things up when necessary. The A/C will not cool down quickly, but I'll just put up with that.

In the 575 square foot shop I have now, the 10K BTU window A/C is enough to maintain temp but not enough to cool it down fast when bringing in a hot car or not having the A/C on. I've got a 2.5 ton unit to do that. It has a 65,000 BTU heater to warm it up and a 15,000 BTU wall blue flame unit to maintain temp.

Just gotta be aware of what chemicals you are using when operating the wall mounted blue flame unit.

I think one of the best things I did in the shop was to install two ceiling fans. I wired the garage for them, but never got around to installing them. The sidewalls are 10’ on the garage. I think the shop is more comfortable. I usually don’t heat either building to more than 55°.

I would agree with you! Circulating air in the shop is what I do too. I don't have room for ceiling fans in my current shop so I just use some small fans.

I built my shop with 12' high roll up door (1990-ish), but I forgot I might put a camper in there sometime. Sure wished I went 14 foot. Ah, I built a dedicated RV shed later with 14 foot height, switched to a 5th wheel anyway which wouldn't fit in the shop. Workaround for the camper was I had my son weld up a dolly for it and it worked fine, one guy could push it into the shop for winter storage. Anyway 14 foot height accomodatess most things.

yeah,.. I went 16' with scissor style trusses, my 5er is 13'6" so had to do a 14' door, but I was able to build a usable mezzanine over the work area due to the center height being about 22'
