I have a squeek somewhere around the dash of my truck that is driving me nutty. I did some searching and have found a TSB for an earlier model that may be my problem. Here is the TSB:

Instrument panel creak.

A creak or squeak may be present near the left and/or right side(s) of the instrument panel. The noise is caused by the sheet metal joint between the A-pillar and the dash p0anel plenum lower rubbing together. The repair involves loosening that instrument panel and providing additional clearance between the A-pillar inner panel and dash panel.

How much of a pain is this going to be? Any suggestions on how to attack this would be greatly appreciated.

Shawn

I had the dealer do my truck. They made a he!! of a mess in my truck but it stopped the squeek. I know they had to remove the dash and a bunch of the seam sealant stuff (cuz it was all over the floor) to do it.

I can't believe that nobody in here knows how to attack this...

I know I can take it to the dealer, but I would rather not. Shouldn't I be able to reach the point they are talking about by removing the a-pillar plastic.

Can I pry the dash away from the a-pillar and stick some foam in there to stop the noise? There has got to be another solution to this problem.

Come on give me some help here guys.

fourwhls,

I think that that TSB applies to older 98-2000 models. My old 2000 3500 had it bad. I really didn't want the dealer ripping the dash out to fix it so it never got done. As I remember reading it only applies to those years listed above. I haven't heard of any late models ( 2001 & 2002) doing it.

Idaho,

What truck did you have this done to?? It appears that you only have 01 and 02 trucks.

Crazy Horse,

The TSB is listed under 01. It just sounds exactly like my problem.

I plan on ripping into it this weekend. I will let you all know my outcome.
