Attacking moles

I've been dealing with moles in the yard for few years, nothing bad but they seem to be worse this year. A few years ago I had them and poisoned them and they went away, then last year they were back in force so I tried poisoned, mole attack wads ect. The peanuts don't seem to work good, they just push them out of the way... . or seem to, the wads do ok also. A few times I've tried another way and it seems to work fine and is fun too.



Take the portable torch out with a broom handle and butane torch, poke a hole in the mound to find the trail, take the end off the torch, turn the bottles up higher than normal, wrap a shop rag around the end to seal it off and shove it on the hole and fill at will. The one I did the other day I let run for about a minute, gas at 12, O2 at 25. Then when your have everything shut off, butane torch lit and eye and ear protection in, pull the torch out and light it off. This was was quite dramatic, almost scary... ... na. Walking back out there I noticed a few other places and thought what the crap, but on examination it was the same trail, seems I blew up about 40 feet of trail..... guess they had a bad day.



Anyone have any other ideas.

I agree w/big jake... . video would be awesome. I don't think I would like to be the one that lights it off though. No telling where those tunnels are.



The method I have used is the garden hose in their hole. Not as much fun, but a little safer. I have bagged 6 this summer. I will then pour our cats used kitty litter down their holes.

Back to the original problem, the moles. Kill the food source (grubbs) and they will go away. Any place that sells fertilizer has this stuff you spread on the grass that kills grubbs and what ever other insects they are eating.

I've used road flares in the past, dig out a hole, light the flare, stuff it in, bury it so the gases and smoke can't escape. Chokes 'em out. There's a chance they'll burrow there way up to ground level to escape, so stand by with a . 22!!

Peanuts? Moles are carniverous, they don't eat peanuts. Spring traps work well but personally I use a little homemade jobbie with a trigger and small explosive charge. Prolly not leagal so I won't go into details but very efective. If they trip it I got 'em!

Actually just a Farm boy, or Texan just depends on how you look at it. I call it thinking outside the box, if the boom isn't big enough then you have to make it bigger.

ALL of what you said = Red Neck Not a bad thing, in my opinion. I enjoy the company of an "outside the box thinker". Which is why I hang around the TDR. No shortage of them here
