Brian, I think you might try and copy..... SOMETHING ELSE!!!:p ;)

If you go, I will se what I can do about going. Don't think i'll pull though.

Andrew

I'm just pullin' your leg about putting your truck in the pulls. Shoot, I'm gonna have a hard enough time trying not to embarrass myself in 4wd. :D

I, and 6 others got beat by a Cummins with stock weenie tires last night.

If you have a stock clutch, no scratch that, if have ANY other clutch other than Mitchells, do not slip it! Pull it like your foot is a flamethrower and the clutch is an ice cube.

It may live 5 pulls or so. :(

Don't drop your tire pressure, and stick around 18-22 hitch height.

Don't turn hollow drop hitches upside down.

You will need to bore the ball hole to fit the correct size shackle. Out to an inch or better.

3. 5" shackle is what they call for, but most can get by with a 3.

Most of all have fun and smile when the clutch smoke haunts you all the way home!!!:D

Gene, do I put the shackle with the bolt/pin straight up and down through the hitch? Do I use a regular hitch (I'll be getting a solid bar if you use a reg. one)? Any pictures? Sorry for the dumb questions, but I figured you'd know. BTW, my reciever is 23" to the center. And don't worry about me burnin' up my clutch. That video of your truck scares me. Thanks for any advice.

Brian

If you want, you can PM any help for questions above or any other helpful info.

Mine is up and down, but I have seen them sideways.

It is solid steel with a 2# drop. So I can flip it and change a little bit.

What do you mean the video scares you? That was a textbook pull!

Thanks Gene. But one more question, is the shackle size the outside diameter of the round part of the shackle? I have one in my truck that is 4" O. D. with a 7/8" pin. Will this work? Sorry for more questions, but this should be the last one.

As for the video, what scares me are the stresses put on that poor driveline. :D Last time I smoked a clutch like that I smelled (stunk) it for days.

Brian

What's this? Sled Puller smoked his clutch?

Yeah, that's what I heard from my source too.

I don't think he'll ever admit it though.

Come on Gene, fess up.

You're not one of those sponsored wimps that doesn't talk about breakage now are you?

-Chris

Just kidding Gene. I thought maybe you needed your blood pressure raised up a few points. :)

Actually, I heard a story about Gene from this past weekend. Something about getting his truck towed around or something. ;) :p Gene, do you want to clear this up?

Andrew

I have never seen clutch smoke from a Mitchell clutch.

And you haven't either.

You saw dust and black smoke, maybe a pinch of white smoke in the beginning, but it all came from the wastegate, which dumps by the transmission.

Yes it was slipping, MY FOOT WAS slipping it!!! but when I let her all the way out and put the coal to it, it hooked, did it not???

les see, slip a clutch 75 feet with 40,000 pounds+/-, and then slam 1000 ft# of torque at it, and head for the money end! Goodbye!

Cool clutch!

Lets play a game.

How many Mitchell clutches were in the top ten, how many other brands, how many autos?

Andrew, I don't know what you are talking about.

sounds fun

give a date and time I tink I can make the short trip from stephenville slewis don't let me forget about this. think I might bring some friends:D

Attn: CTABOR

I'm sure you know William Tisler, he has been to the truck pull's several times. He always talks about how the Dodge's get smoked by the fords. For you other readers, he (William) is huge Dodge fan by the way. If any of you guys have a chance please go down there and kick some ford ass. I have a 2wd and no money so, I am not going. CTABOR, pm me, it's good to know there is another TDR member around here.

Now Gene,

You know that he does not get clutch smoke because there is not any organic material. He runs feramic... metal on metal. No Smoke there. It is sooooo awesome to watch!!!!

Peter

Now Gene... ... ... ;)
