I am getting an edge juice with attitude for fathers day. What I need to know is what size do I have to drill my hole in the manifold? Is it 1/8 or 1/4 npt? What size drill bit. Been searching the TDR and DTR for over an hour on this info but it was to no avail. I also can't open the instruction sheet on edge's website. I hate acrobatty reader.

Any other special tools that I need to do this install? Wire cutting/tapping anywhere? I am working around 200 miles from home and will be here until July 3rd with no chance of getting anything out to me except for when I see my wife and kids on sunday afternoon for a little visit 1/2 way. Long story short, I will have to get my wife to pick up any neccesary tools that I don't have like a 1/8 npt tap... ..... and a new drill bit and anything else that I need tommorow during business hours. Thanks

I looked on their web site and they state that you need a 5/16 drill bit and a 1/8 NPT tap. You are to drill pre turbo. I would get a small magnet to get out any of the shavings.

Hope that helps.

"It is necessary to tap a small hole into your exhaust manifold to insert the EGT sensor. The EGT probe must be mounted in the exhaust manifold before the turbo inlet to operate properly. Drill the hole using a 21/64” or 5/16” drill bit, then tap it with an 1/8” NPT tap (see figure 4). Once the hole is drilled and tapped, run the motor at idle for 10 to 15 seconds to clear the few remaining shavings from the manifold.

Once the engine has been run, screw in the fitting and insert the EGT sensor by sliding it into the hole (see figure 4) and tightening the back end fittings (see figure 3).

Figure 3. sorry... would not copy pics...

The EGT thermocouple installed into the drilled and tapped exhaust manifold.

Directly from their instructions...

Thanks Crash,

I will get my wife to pick up the new drill bit and 1/8 npt tap. Everything else is plug and play? This is sounding to easy. ;) I should get all the instructions in the box that the attitude juice comes in, just hate to wait another 16 days... ... ... .

Everything else is plug and play. It looks pretty stright forward, plus you will have the pics and instructions in font of you. Good Luck. I would hardly be able to sleep having to wait till Sunday.

a 90 degree drill I found made the job very easy and then do like they said just start the motor to clear any small shavings that might of fallen down everything else is fast and easy... Love mine Oo.

Use a little bit of oil on the tip of the drill to catch the shavings. Wipe off the tip and drill some more. You'll be suprised how much the oil will catch. The metal is soft enough that you won't have to drill a pilot hole first.

Remember that it is a taper thread fit, don't go in too far. About 1/3 of the tab should be all you need. Use grease or run the motor while drilling and tapping. The grease is the easier method, no shaking. Mike

Thanks for the tips guys. I did the pyro install on my 98 with no problems. But I will be sure not to go to deep. That is something I never thought of. I will be doing it on Monday night. Get it today!!!!
