Attn: 12V into 73-87 GM Conversions

Installing a 12 Valve into a 73 to 87 GM Pickup and 88 to 91 Crew Cab or Suburban can be a real hassle as far as the stock A/C compressor is concerned coming into contact with the passenger side framerail. While I was reserching other B-series OEM installs I found that Kenworth used the B-series 5. 9 in 93-97 K-300 medium duty trucks which has a very narrow frame.

Upon futher inspection I discovered Cummins offers a A/C comperssor bracket that mounts the compressor up high next to the alternator (part# 3930888) which cures the problem of having to cut or notch the framerail which I've seen alot of people do.

The bracket costs $80-$100 and replaces the Dodge bottom radiator hose neck-A/C combo. Check it out, you'll love it

I'm too cheap to buy a DigiCam sorry. But it is exactly what WE need.

I have a engine setting on the ground at home and I'll mount the bracket with the a A/C compressor on it and borrow a camera.

Did you get the part number for the belt that goes with this application? Sounds like it will help with several different conversion issues since early Fords have the same clearance issue.

Do you think the bracket could be used to add a second a/c compressor. This would be a great way to add On Board Air on a Dodge.

No because it rearanges the A/C compressor and the Fan belt tensioner to the opposite way they are stock. Meaning the A/C compressor will be above the belt tensioner putting the tensioner down where the A/C comp was. I dont have a clue why Kilby Ent. dosent build a OBA system for the 2nd Gen trucks.

How will the alternator mount on this bracket because the dodge bracket has a boss for the alternator. Is this one also about the same.

That is correct. It might take a little shiming to dead on but then again were talking about an engine swap so nothing is ever easy .

I have not heard of this, but you have the same problem in the mid 90's gm conversions. My brother and I simply made a bracket. I do not have pics yet of my conversion but I hope to take some tonight. I will definitely get a pic of the alternator/ac locations. We did add an extra idler pulley and it works terrific.

we leave the stock ac in the stock position and ken builds the bracket, that way you don't have the problem with the fit. brackets are available.

I am building a 86 k30 ground up for a pulling truck / street truck With a 94 12v/nv 5600/np205. I have no body lifts and the stock dodge ac pump fits in my frame rails, my engine sits lower in my chassis so it fits inside the frame with a 1'' or so gap and 1/2'' holes drilled in frame to remove mounting bolts, the rear lower bolt is just below the frame.
