Mark at TST told me the 4. 8 is actually a #4. When TST originally made these plates they stamped the #4 as #8. They later came back and stamped them #4. 8. THe new ones like the one I had was stamped #4.

Alot of people like the #4 in the 215 pumps, but I did not. I tried it for a while and thought the low end punch was not there so I switched it for a #10. I like it better. The #4 gave a little more top end HP but not what I liked. Try it you may like it. If not trade it out.

well I need some advice and perspective, I am gonna pull smokey in febuary and need some more power, i was thinking the 4 was the way to go maybe... .

Brandon, I have been talking to Piers about this plate and he suggests it for our trucks with the governer spring kit. He also said something about the #0 plate whcih I think is the Donnelly special plate Don M is running which is no more than a flat plate that keep the rack from over travel.

BTW I put my #10 in sunday and will probibly run it for a week or so. I like my modified #11 better so far, maybe it will grow on me.

Another victum of an auto plate in a 215 pump.

Well, it works & you'll notice the difference, in a big way. :D You just may exceed safe EGT with it centered with you're turbo config. You'll have to let us all know. :) If you're up to experimenting, why don't you put it in centered to start with & post. Low end won't be as much as it is with it forward, but it's no slouch. :D

Mine is set 3/4 of the way forward. That's just so that the rack doesn't get caught under it. Another one of those recommendations from the SOTN. :) I had the #11 all the way forward & didn't have a problem, so probably won't, but I just started on the safe side. With the 4. 8 @ 3/4 of the way forward, it's one gross/obscene fueler. I've already done the std. things to lower EGT & I can get to 1500 degrees pretty easily.

Great move in my opinion. You can set it to a point of EGT regulation with your right foot until you get 1 of the new killer turbo's. The HX40-16 is not big enough for the 4. 8. I'm going for a new turbo some day & it will have to be between Piers HX40-18, the B1 or H2 variations that Blair & Adam are using.

Grasshopper, when you get old enough and fully understand the mystery of the torque plates, you will be ready for the zero plate.

i am trying real hard... ... ... ... .

zero always has been the most intriquing number to me... ... ... ...

cute i like the grasshopper thing... ... ya dont know how excited that gets me

he he he

auto plates in a 215

Well, I just returned from a 1500mi trip thru the mountains of NC (looking for snow, just to feel like the Holidays!), and my new #8 pulls like a bear!! My highway milage is about the same as it was with my #12, but GOBS more power up to about 2200rpm. I dont have a gov. sp. kit (yet) so that's the problem there. I ended up backing off the starwheel quite a bit for smoke control, and the thing actually feels better on the bottom end now... .

Come on Joe start us grasshoppers down the path to enlightenment(sp). :D May the forse be with us all!!!LOL:D
