Audi Tiptronic Transmission

Man, just got out of a drive in my buddy's Audi A4 with the Tiptronic transmission and it was awesome. I wish I could get something like this trans with the Cummins Diesel, it would be nice. I saw where the DCX Unimog has an electronic trans like this but with even more brains. I like a manual, but this tiptronic would convice any manual loyalist to switch if its proven to be durable in truck work. I have an auto, would like a manual, but would much rather prefer the tiptronic setup. Why would anyone want a clutch with this type of trans?

electro pneumatic?

The road racing big rigs have that sort of setup too... it looks kinda like a joystick and they tip it forward or backward. would make for some quick shifting
