I had good intentions... ... ... .

I planned on waiting until next week to call for the railroad car number so I could get an idea of where it was, but now with all the paint fiascos I think I'll call tomorrow and check on the status of my rig.

Next I'll look up the site for tracking the truck as it makes its way to the Pacific Northwest. I see that you are in Idaho so we should have our trucks on the same rail shipment. Good luck. I hope we both escape any paint problems.

See my post in the "D1 Status"

Wonder how many of us are in this fix? Ordered (3-22-03) and waiting (birth is expected EOM now) a longer time than "normal".

I just washed my 03 it was built a week before the trucks that are being audited. I saw one small chip on the hood which ok it could have been a rock but then i saw the same size chip on the tailgate. I hope this is not the start of something. My truck only has 800 miles on it. :(

Mine has been on the ground in Denver since 4/2 with no information as to when this required "inspection" is to take place.

You guys asked about fix for the affected trucks. I spoke to my dealer and was told that trucks that don't pass the "inspection" would not be repaired since the problem is with the paint primer and a fix would consist of stripping the truck and repainting it. DC would pull the trucks and sell them at auction w/o warranty. As for special order trucks, as yours and mine, a "replacement" would have to be built.

I asked the dealer to order its "replacement" now and he did on 4/11. You see, DC won't build the "replacement" until after the "inspection". If the truck fails this "inspection" then I'm that much further on getting a truck. If it passes the "inspection" then I will require the dealer to provide me with a VALIDATED copy of the bulletin, i. e. an affidavit stating that the bulletin is legitimate, and also a copy of the inspection for that truck. Thats so just in case I have any related problems in the future. If I accept the original truck then the "replacement would just go into their inventory.

Hope this helps some you guys in the same pickle as me. This post is also for a second reason. I'm hoping that some you guys that are affected can verify with your dealers that DC will "fix" this problem the way my dealer said. Either way I'm going to proceed the same in regards to the documents if I take the affected truck.

Thanks.

My zone rep has ASSURED me that the dates have been changed to:

March 10th thru March 27th

My 3500 was built on feb 17th, so needless to say, I was a bit upset. But he assured me that my truck was not effected and the dates are correct.

Any one heard anything to support this?

And BTW, a crew came to the dealership today to inspect the 2 trucks we had that were effected, and the inspection was brief, and they used a type of pressure washer to see if they could blow the paint off:confused:

I hope they inspect better than that!

My dealer placed my order, March 31... . he told me 10 days ago, my truck should be in (to Phoenix) on approximately May 1st. I wonder if this inspection process will log jam the whole process and my truck will be pushed back a few weeks??? Any thoughts, Tommy?

My truck has been built over a month and is caught up in this. It's still listed as in "Containment".

My dealer had 21 trucks on his lot that could not be sold and three had already been delivered. The 21 were tested last Friday and all passed. The three already delivered will have to be found and checked. He received 5 more trucks on the transport earlier this week and all had already been checked and passed. Hopefully, my truck will show up eventually.

My dealer called today to say that mine has now been loaded onto a rail car. Of course, he didn't say if the rail car was moving.

As near as I can tell mine was painted on April 3, don't know how long full assembly takes from there but if some that were built in March do not arrive in Phoenix until May 1 my worst fears may come true. Sales tax going up another cent here in Idaho on May 1 so chalk up another $330 or so. :( Gotta love it.

When you get your truck you can get the month/day/hour the truck was built from the door sticker. This is one way I ck to see what the auto trans is when the invoice is missing (window sticker).

Know that if built last year it has to have the 47 and SO (just another way to keep the sales straight  ).

Mine wont be built till the LAST week of Apr and they "basically" told me to quit calling them till then. With the SO in hosp we may get to take it on the trip after all (if I still "buy" it -we really dont NEED 3 vehicles but the diesel 4x2 would be a nicer tow'r than the 99 4x4 gas F'r).

May God bless ALL our Servicepersons and keep them safe!

Looks like I'm in the same Boat. mine is silver and held up in Washington from about 4/2 with no news. my dealer has been on the phone every day but no answer from dodge.

The story I heard is that the “test” is done by sticking a hypodermic needle into the paint in an “inconspicuous area” and then spraying the area with high pressure from a pressure washer. The truck passes if no paint comes off. If the paint peels off, the truck fails. All colors are tested.

Tomey Gun, What is the usual time frame for a truck ordered? This wait is killing me!
