Search Info And Tip

Anyone know why the 'search' function has a minimum word length of 4?

i. e. "Dana 60" can not be searched since (60) is under the min word length:confused:

Can not find the thread titled "Grease rear wheel bearings???"

The title is exact & correct since I did in fact record it previously, but the search function can not find it.

Is it because this thread discusses the Dodge practice of moving the rear diff fill hole LOWER to mitigate the leaking rear seals at the expense of proper bearing lubrication & thus is a controversial topic?

Or is it just a problem w/ the search function?

Speaking of the search function...

Am I missing something, or is it no longer possible to search all forums? I sure miss being able to search for a keyword or a user's post in all forums, instead of one at a time.

Hopefully this is a small oversight.

I, too, have had a problem with the minimum search word length. No more looking for TST, BD, DC, VA, EZ, or most any other acronym we've come to know and love.

I wonder what the reasoning is behind that?

(edit) I just found your post entitled "Grease rear wheel bearings???" in the 2nd gen forum. Note that when you search, you shouldn't use "?" unless you want to look for wildcard characters. For example, using the "?" in the above search would look for "Grease rear wheel bearings" PLUS three characters after the word bearings, and, naturally, wouldn't find a match. Bottom line: Don't search for asterisks or question marks.

Apparently one can not.

Regarding the links I'm trying to re-establish:

I have exact titles but did not record what forum they are in.

One s/b able to search on ALL forums.

I did try "site" etc. , thinking I was searching everywhere (w/ no results?) AND if I can't search all forums at once, why am I restricted to waiting 30 seconds everytime I need to do a search:confused:

I did in fact find what I wanted on the 2nd gen forum. TG its not another censorship deal:)

Looks like I should be "documenting" (instead of re-linking) everything I'm trying to relocate. I WILL NOT be doing this again on the next software "upgrade".

I have also noticed that on some threads (that I'm intimately familiar with) that some of the "replies" are at the beginning of the thread (in an incorrect order!).

Does not make sense to me. What else might be corrupted?

These things make me very nervous... . :(

Two copies

The old software is gone. So are its pages, but not its content. Hence pointers to pages won't work --- its basic browser functionality. It would not make much sense from a disk storage perspective, to keep all the old HTML files when the software that manipulates them is gone but you can search for the old content... .
