I just bought a 99 w/ an auto that was rebuilt 15K ago and now it is having problems upshifting into 2nd. Is this an easy fix or do i need to spend $4,000+ on a bullet proof transmission. Thanks

When my transmission started what you describe, the only way I could get it to shift was to let completely off the go pedal.

I check all the usual suspects, the cable, fluid level, bands, ect. Come to find out, it was the governor soleinoid (sp?). After the fix, problems went away.

An upgraded transmission is never a bad idea, especially if you plan on adding power. I am very happy with mine!

Sounds like governor solenoid, had mine go twice now, same symptoms. If you are towing a trailer when this happens it will ruin the trans in a flash.

Mine did that too at 15000 miles or so and they replaced the valvebody under warranty but I'm sure it was just a solenoid, dealers like to throw assemblies at problems when D/C is footing the bill. It shouldn't be that hard to change one out if you know which one is bad, they are just hanging on the valve body. You could call or PM one of the transmission Gods that hang out here and get the scoop.

The numbers are as follows:

56028196AA Transducer

56028196AD Replacement part number for above

4617210 Solenoid

Hope those p/n are right. Don't have the receipt handy to verify.

You're looking at about $200 or so for the 2 parts. Replaced mine last month. Easy to do after you have dropped the pan. Change the filter while in there. You will need to remove it anyways to replace the parts.

I just made to same post to the "911" forum. It's most likely your out put speed sensor. It's cheap about $46. Mine was $115 with labor. The dealer will tell you it's your transmission.
