Well guys I am in the market for a new truck as some of you have read. I want to go with a manual this time but my family tell's me not to. I have to have surgery on my left ankle Tuesday 13th from an auto accident I was in last week totaling my truck :{ . I am kind of worried about the clutch but they are hydraulic and push easier than the old linkage styles. It will be stock clutch for now until ankle heals up better. I also figured it could sit in garage for a few months if I find the right one. I have access to a Dodge mini van, I know mommy vehicle but it is easier for me to get in and out of them right now with my bad ankle. If you don't mind please give your opinions. Yes I know opinions are like a**holes every one has one, I am trying to cheer my self up. Don't mean to affined any one just bad wreck and I am upset.

Thank you

Randy

Stick!

Get the stick if thats what you want. I have been where you are with broken ankle. I have broken both of mine, Most recent was my right ankle in march. When I broke my left it took some time to heal but was able to drive stick before I was done with physical therapy, it was about one week after they took the cast off. The worst one for me was left knee surgurey, it took a little longer to drive stick after that one. Good luck with your healing and I hope you get in the new truck soon.

I vote stick too, if that's what you want. I've had broken ankles (both once or twice) broken right knee, slight left femur fracture, etc... I call the clutch a little extra PT. The only thing that bothers me is my right knee on long trips. But that's what cruise control is for. Go with the manual.

Get the stick, *if* thats what you want. That way later if you don't like it, it will be your desicion instead of somebody elses. Besides, with a stick, less people can drive it. ;) That's a scary thought isn't it.

Thanks guys, that is the way I am leaning toward. My wife never drove my truck in the 1. 5yrs that I had the truck it was too big for her. I would prefer it for towing camper, skid steer trailer and any other heavy towing jobs. And who knows maybe I will stack it and really sound like a Billy big rigger. I loved the sound of the stacks behind my auto but the sticks sound much nicer. Thank you all again for opinions.

Randy

if the ankle is up to in on the 18th, maybe i will let ya test drive Dogzilla and see what ya think! :) PS, CALL ME MAN! I got numbers for the Black Short box :D

Go for the stick if you enjoy driving one. The other option is to take a drive in a couple of bomb'ed autos. Tonite (9th) and the next meet will be great times to take a ride or drive trucks that are set up. Provided I don't break my truck tonite, you can drive mine either tonite or at the next meet. I'm sure the Fat Kid will let you drive his as well. I think Holeshot is comming up, and he has a DTT. I'm not sure if anyone in our area has an ATS.

Both can be set up nicely... . it's all what you want to drive.

OK guys, I just turned 54 today so please be gentle. Come on, do we really want that old notchy, pain in the a-- stick, have to worry about that clutch and throw out bearing making noise and can't hold the clutch down in all that darn traffic no matter if it is hydraulic or whatever. When I was younger I couldn't have anything else but a stick. It was the man thing I guess. What was I ever thinking. Just have to keep waking myself up sometimes though. :-laf :-laf

Well Guy's I Am Still Up In Air On This So I Will Have To See On Sunday At Mn Wrench Day Which Is Way To Go. Josh I Will Still Bring My Timing Tools. I Don't Mind The Stick No Real City Driving Or In Heavy Traffic. Talk To You Later.

it's all about personal preference and when built right, both can handle additional power :)

I'm happy with my auto and cruise control ... but then and again, I ain't hauling 20,000 lbs of load around :-laf

Sorry for your loss. :( But what are you doing with or where is your old truck. I have need for engine. Oo. Oo. :-laf
