I have an rebuilt auto with less then 15k miles on it and would like more power. How much horsepower can an auto hold with just a good valve body and t/c and how much is it to do those 2 things.
IMO, I would select the triple disc converter to help put the power to the ground. It will make the trans rebuild last longer. The combo will handle more than you can build into the motor.
Welcome to the hp & tq players. The real fun starts when you start driving your truck like its a car but faster. Enjoy!!!
There is a lot of opinions, but most say there are several weak links in the transmission. Whether they are true weak links, or they are weak links just because there are upgraded parts, you have to decide for yourself. The other supposed main weak link besides the converter is the 3rd gear operating components. I will, however, say that there are several people pushing 500 HP on just a torque converter and shift kit or valve body, of course with a fairly low-mile transmission. That says that the transmission has the capability of doing something with the power, for a given amount of time. And there are a good amount of people that can get by with those components. There is nothing wrong with that. Now to the upgrade parts. Most of the upgrade parts are just like the word reads, "upgrade parts". They are for the person who either wants or needs it all, wants the simple satisfaction that he/she has a good transmission that isn't stock, or has extra money to spend.
Just my 2¢, plus some added **** on the side. Sorry for the criticism folks.
