Swapping the transmission is easy. Making all the other connections is the hard part. The difficulty of the task depends on the year and make of the truck. If you can find a donor truck in a junk yard to rob all the components out of it would make your life easier because then you know that all the pieces already fit. I've seen a swap cost anywhere from $2500 to $4500. If you have all the pieces gathered it can be done in a weekend but there is always some problem. Good luck.
i dont think i am going to buy the truck with the bum auto it just dont seem worth it to me i woudl rather just wait it out and find a true 5spd truck and it woudl have the higher hp pump in er too
Well tell me about the truck then, year, 4x4, 2x4, reg cab, what else is wrong, oh and what they want for it and where is it. I'm looking for something to turn into a veggie burner and to keep the miles off the 2001, I've already got 142,000 on it.
its a 97 4x4 regular cab the transmission i think is the only problem its only got 65k on it its got the mounts for a fisher minute mount but no plow there asking $6200 and its in newbury mass if you want i will pm you the phone number
