Have a 98 12v that was auto but is now 6 speed. I have worked through most of the glitches but the cruise has me stumped. I did all the tests that the manual tells to do. The servo is ok. Wiring checks out. Cruise light comes on in dash. No vacuum leaks. I jumpered the servo under the battery and it works ok. I should have 12 volts at pin 3 at the servo when the cruise light is on. This is the problem. I checked the brake light switch and it is ok but I do not have the 12 volts coming from the pcm to the brake switch. I found if I disconnect the battery and let the pcm reset itself I will get the 12 volts at the switch. As soon as I plug the harness into the brake switch the light on the dash goes out and it takes numerous attempts to get it lite, and when you do, no more 12 volts. I found if I disconnect the abs from the brake switch the 12 volts stays with the light ( still cannot set cruise though) I am thinking there is a code being set in the computer that will not allow the cruise to work, I don't get an error light on the dash though. I also thought it might have something to do with the auto to 6 speed.

The clutch interlock is hooked up, backup lights, it still has the auto pcm. I have read numerous posts about this but have not found anyone that has fixed this and how. The manual says nothing about the tps being tied into the cruise but mine is still hooked up. Do I still need to short the trany temp sensor and the park neutral sensor? Is my problem else where? I don't have a code reader and hate to pay the dealer to read the codes but if that is what it takes. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the long thread but wanted everyone to know I have tested all the normal items

Thanks

I am pretty sure you have to tell the pcm that it is not in park or neutral. with the drb III you can see why the pcm is aborting cruise. i am guessing that you will have to figure out the wiring so you can jumper your old p/n switch so it thinks it is always in gear. i am sure gear position is an input to the cruise function of the pcm.

Dieseldemon You are da Man!!! I followed your instructions and everything is working as it should. No new pcm needed, which I was afraid I needed. Very cheap fix. Thank you for all of your help.

To fix the cruise problem you need to make the black w/white wire going to your park nuetral switch on the old auto, go to the clutch switch, under the dash on the new manual trans. Keep the factory jumper wire on the factory harness, run the black w/white to the clutch switch. Run a second wire to a ground and attach this wire to the other side of the clutch switch. When the clutch pedal is depressed the black w/white wire is grounded, enabling the starter to engage. Release the clutch pedal and the pcm thinks the trans is in gear and allows cruise to work!! All credit goes to Dieseldemon!!!
