your local dodge dealer should have all the required parts for the "kit"

Your best bet would be trying to find a wrecked truck as close to your year model as possible.

That would be a lot cheaper than buying everything from the dealer..... including a transmission

The best bet would be to sell the truck and buy one with the trany you want... . other wise it's going to be CHA $$$ Ching!

This is pretty much on target ^^^^ . The wreck is a good idea too IF you can part out the rest of the truck. I have gone through this from every possible angle as I desperately wanted a manual transmission in my truck. I cannot afford to buy a manual transmission truck at this point, and could not find anyone that would finish a deal on a 6 speed "kit" out of a wreck. Beware of people backing out on deals for trades and buys, it happened to me several times. I gave up on the manual transmission, but I did find a couple shops to upgrade my auto for a very reasonable price. Going for the full tilt auto upgrade/rebuild instead of trying to buy/trade vaporware.

Carefully evaluate what you do with your truck now and what you plan to do with it. The auto makes a lot more sense for me and my use, and once I found the right shop it was a slam dunk to go for the upgrade. I still drool thinking of the 6 speed, but it just does not make sense and in the long run the auto will be a better choice. One trip through Chitclogo during rush hour would have been plenty with the 6 speed, but I have done it as 25 times a month:eek:  .

Take a look at the auto upgrades and the companies supplying them. There are some viable choices unless you just cannot use an auto anymore.

If you are dead serious about converting and have the cash to spend talk to Enterprise Engine, AutoWurks Diesel and DTT. I checked into all kinds of shops and the ones listed were the only ones I was able to find with references claiming really smooth conversions without headaches and extra costs that were not disclosed up front. Be seated when you get the quote though... ... ...

Or you find somebody to swap the other way. I'm still considering a manual (5 sp. ) to automatic conversion.

I have a 96 D3500 auto that I bought for a parts truck. The trans was built by Dunnrite. Iwould swap all the auto parts for the 5 sp or 6 sp setup.

Thanks, Rod
