What would you expect, if this was done?

Per van Aaken, NO timing addition to the C3.2!

ok, as you guys can see i have a 95 with a 5spd and a 98 with a auto both 4wd. i am getting sick of having a auto in my 98 and was wondering how hard it would be to switch the two? i was thinking of using a fully built auto (47rh) for my 95 and just switching the stick parts over to my 98. will the 95 parts bolt right on to my 98?? and if i was to put a auto in my 95 could i use sompthing like a b&m ratchet shifter? unless sompthing great happens to my auto this weekend i think i will do this in a few weeks. my 98 is my work truck and sees over 300 miles a day so i cant afford any more transmission troubles. i will be going back to work in april so i have to figure out sompthing soon. i like the stick in my 95 but think that a good built auto would help with drag racing and silver lake dune hopping. anyone done the two?

thanks

matt

Is the 98 a 12V or a 24V?If it is a 12V the swap is pretty straight forward. just switch part for part. If you are a good wrench it should take about a couple of days to do it. Don't forget them things are not light so get some help if possible.

Auto to stick

You never said if 2wh dr or 4wh dr. The 98 has the speedo pickup in the rear end and the 95 has the pickup in the trans or transfer case on a 4wh if they are both 4wh dr no problem

the 98 is a 12v and there both 4x4s. the speedo doesnt work in the 98 anyways, got to fix that soon. what would be involved as far as electronics? or would the stick not need any? im not going to change steering columns, so could i use a ratchet shifter with a 47rh?

If you do the swap you will need to swap the tranfer case along with the transmission. The 4wd shifter for the 98 mounts to the floor. The 4wd shifter for the 95 mounts to the transmission.

The 98 electronics will not work in the 95 if you look at the plug on the 95 you will see it is diff than the 98 plug the 95 stick will work in the 98 if you change the input gear on the transfer case and find a trans from a 95 you mite be able to just change the valve body on the 98 to a valve body from a 95 to work in the 95

well if i do it im sending my 98 47re out for a core and getting a 47rh 2wd for that truck (putting in a divorced t-case) but is all the wiring there for a auto in the 95? or would it be a bunch of wiring woes. i figured the auto to stick would be pretty much straight forward but its the stick to auto that im worried about. and im not sure if i want to take the plunge to a auto in my toy, im partial to sticks, but sompthing has to happen.

You could wire a 95 auto to work in the 95 there are no wires in the 95 for an auto you would have to do the wiring yourself I wired one for a 62 international a long time ago. Good luck

ok, i have been screwing with this auto for to long now, im ordering a stick conversion for my 98 and keeping both sticks. i wouldnt own another auto if i had to, id rather walk! thanks for the input, but i give up on autos. mine acts like it has a 3400 stall right now, i hate it!!! now i need to find a 2wd 4500 transmission to go into my 95.

thanks guys
