Does anyone have the Automatic Trans / band adjustment procedure for a 2001 Dodge 4X4 ? We are helping a friend with a trans service this weekend.

I don't know when they last serviced it, but apparently they have detected a slight slipping condition.

Thanks Ken:)

When does it slip? If it's anywhere but into 2nd a band adjustment won't help. If someone can talk me through the details, I can e-mail you a few pages out of the 2002 service manual, it's one giant pdf file and I can't mail the whole thing, and don't know how to mail parts of it.

Many transmission gurus don't recommend adjusting the bands unless it's slipping in first or reverse, too tight and you're much worse off.

If it's slipping in first band adjustment will not help, first gear in drive does not use the low/reverse band, only when you hold the shifter in 1st gear is the low reverse band used for first gear. If you read the service manual band/clutch application chart , this is explained, they even call the two "gears" different names.

Thanks Guys,

I haven't heard the full story yet, However they do haul horses around so the transmission may be in need of something other than a service... ... ...
