I have a Torque Convertor lock up problem. 97 Dodge 3500 diesel-has a BD Valve Body-Torque Lock and Exhaust Brake. I take off in drive (3) and convertor locks up right away, as soon as trans. shifts into 2, says locked in third, won't unlock as I come to a stop. I have to shift into neutral. Controller # is 1030297. It does this in all three position of switch. BD switch on foot feed makes and breaks okay. HELP

Thanks

Bob

First, Welcome to the TDR!

Sounds like the wiring or the something w/ the exhaust brake is keeping the torque converter grounded. . Did this just happen by itself, or did you change something recently? I`m not too familiar with bd. . you can, of course, drive in 1/2 manual without the TC locking.

Some background info would help.

Don't know if it's apples 2 apples, my ATS transmission, TC and TransCommander gave me fits by not downshifting. They finally got the controller fixed. . . but not before it tore 3 yokes, a couple sets of universal joints, a flex plate and the side bearings out of my dayna 80. I got pretty good at popping it into neutral when coming to a stop.

Cheers,

Steve J

RAller, When the truck starts out in third, if you turn the truck off, does it correct itself? Does the truck shift properly if you manually up and down shift? Does the transmission have a voltage regulator on it?
