Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Auto Trans Cooler lines

I have had a lot of trans problems (3 going out in the first 58,872 miles. That is now fixed thanks to Sun Coast in Florida.



New problem has arisen though.



Transmission oil cooler line from Transmission to the stock cooler on the right side of the Engine continues to crack in the bend below the cooler.



I have replaced three of them now at 25. 00 each.



I found what looks like a crack in the bending process of the replacements, same spot mine keep breaking.



The dealer has ordered several and they all seem to have the same defect in the bend below the cooler that looks like the start of a crack. I think the vibration is causing this weak spot to crack at around 3,000 miles.



I have contacted Dodge and the dealer tells me he has contacted their representatives about it.



The Dodge people I have talked to tell me "nothing more will be done".



Any else having this problem???

Trans cooler lines

I'm on the phone with them right now.



Bill isn't there so I am talking to Vinney.



They have a replacement line that has a braded section in it that should stop the vibration.



They also tell me there should be two clips that hold the lines from vibrating that aren't on my lines.



Evidently when my dealer did the first transmission/torque converter replacement at 17,000 miles they weren't put back on because they weren't there when I did my inspection on return of the truck.



Interestingly, when I asked the part man at my dealer he told me there wasn't such a thing.



Time to change Dealers I guess.

Yep! Best investment was a subscription to Turbo Diesel Mag, and the web site.



Just sorry I didn't know about them BEFORE I bought the truck.



I probably would have upgraded the transmission right after buying instead of waiting for the problems.



By the way I now have the hangers that the DEALER removed at first service because "we didn't think they were required".



More reason to change and I found a place. A little farther away

Columbia Tn (65 miles as opposed to 15) but in talking to them they seem to know what is going on in relation to Diesels and the automatics.
