Just got back from the dealer, paid $5. 90 a quart for ATF+4! I am really interested in changing over to synthetic ATF, but the only brands available locally are Royal Purple and Mobil One. Neither of these are listed as being a ATF+4 subsitute. I am not interested in using Amsoil as it is not available locally. Do any of you use either of the brands listed above and if so how long have you used them?

Thanks J. E.

Can't help you with those two brands, I paid like 21. 00/gal of the mopar ATF+4 --what a rip... started talking with the guys at Lubrication Engineers about their 7500 Monolec trans fluid. They say it will reduce temps and help the trans last longer, BUT, for warranties sake, it does not meet the ATF+4 spec. So?? are we supposed to keep paying outrageous amounts for trans fluid? Or just switch and hope nothing goes wrong? Just my half cent.

I am switching to Amsoil synthetic ATF this weekend in my 01' and I dont have an Amsoil dealer locally either. I made a phone call and 2 days later i had 22 quarts on my door step. Its alot cheaper then DC or Mobil 1. Most Amsoil distributors ship quick. I once had filters the next day, and i only paid for UPS ground shipping. Dont rule Amsoil out just because there is no place local to buy it. My nearest dealer is a 45 minute drive. Its alot easier to order it.

I had Amsoil ATF +4 in my truck. It was specifically formulated by amsoil to meet Chryslers specs I think.

Anyways to make a long story short, I was told by DTT that it has to many friction modifiers in it and that Amsoil universal atf is a way better choice. Just something for ya to chew on... .

So now I am running Amsoil Universal.

On edit.

What I ment by to many friction modifiers is that there is some unwanted slip because it is to "slippery".
