Does someone know, right off hand, the size of the lock nut and adjusting screw on the front band adjustment on a 98. 5 autotrans. I think the adjusting screw is a Torx 30 but I'm not sure. Thanks.

This is interesting because I went to adjust mine today for the first time and was confused by the fact that it was a Torx. All information I have heard up to this point is that it is a nut. Even my repair manual from DC says such. I was about to post a question about this very fact. Another interesting note is that my rear band adjusting screw is a 1/4" and not a 5/16" like the manual and other posts I have read.

I had the exact same experience. I did manage to get the job done. I used a T30 on the front band. I'm a 56 year old fat guy, and my glasses get dirty in a hurry under there, so I'm still not for sure that's the right size, but it worked! I also had to add two more quarts of fluid after the dipstick said full. I ran the engine and put it in drive and it sucked the level back down. I think I just read about that in the new TDR magazine.
Thanks for the replies.
