Has anyone ever seen this? I have a 99 2500 quad cab 4x4 auto. When I take a sharp turn to the left only the trans loose the gear. It is worse when the truck is cold.

Same problem here with a 99 2 wheel drive. Sharp left turn with cold trans. Fluid pickup on left side of pan and with deeper pan on 99 I believe trans "runs out of fluid". :)

no first left turns

What I would do first is to check the filter for being loose if no problem found to replace the filter then reinstall the dipstick with the pan off and look at the tip at the trans and see how far it is threw the tube. I have seen the wrong dip-sticks used and cracked to loose filter on the trans. what you could do too is put a pressure gauge on the trans and check line pressure when you turn the corner, but you would have to lose pressure to lose first on turns. This is what I have seen at the dealer as a heavy mechanic. Make sure you have the big black plastic filter on the trans.
