My auto trans is locked in first gear-has 74,000 miles on it. It has been hanging up in first-higher rpm before shifting to 2nd-but now it will not shift at all. I was getting ready for trans rebuild and new tc to handle the injectors and tst 10 kit. Anybody got any ideas-I'd rathert drive it to the trans shop than have it towed in-just doesn't look right.

transmission problem in 1st

Hi Bill,

I am having the same kind of problem, mine has not failed to shift yet , it shifts at about 2000 to 2100 after start up. After the first shift it shifts OK. I am thinking it is the computer and I am not sure how to reset it and what resetting it would do to other things. This problem started about two months after I had towed my 13k 5th wheel in the Mountains. I have towed the 5th wheel 20k miles before this problem started. The truck performs like a dream except for this problem. Maybe we can get some help.

98. 5/3500/4x4/BDtcvb/va box with boost mod and 275injectors :(

Took truck to a local trans shop where owner has done good work for me before. Wear metal and parts were causing one of the small valves to stick-not allowing the upshift or delaying upshift. Filter and fluid should have been changed. Transmission showed average wear for 74,000 miles. I think what might have accelerated the problem was the addition (last 7,000 miles) of 275 injectors and TST's powermax 10 kit. I ahad planned on a new trans setup with tc to handle the power so I'm going ahead with that now.

I am not trying to start a transmission war here guys or to promote one vendor over another but if I were you guys I would give Bill K. at DTT (866) 504-4002 a call. He will be happy to try and help diagnose and find a solution for you. His knowledge of our transmissions is unbelievable and he will try and help you out whether you are a customer or not.
