Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) auto trans. question

I just recently got rid of the 96' 3500 auto that I had and aquired a 99' 3500 auto. The question that I have is what is the difference between the two trannys ? The 96' had a DTT valve body in it , and as far as I know the 99' is completely stock , and it deffinitly feels alot better than the 96'. The shifts feel more positive, and the rpm. drop is much greater when it shifts . Any thoughts?

the 99 feels better than the 96 wit ha DTT VB ... i highly doubt that 99 is stock .
