For those of you 2nd gen owners with auto trans you might want to file this for future reference.
About a week ago I got in my truck turned the key and let it run through the pre-heat cycle but the CEL did not go off. I always do the pre-heat twice before starting and thought well maybe this is just a glitch it won’t happen on the second cycle. Wrong. I plugged in the scan tool and it showed one code P075…something but I don’t recall the last digit. I cleared the code and the same happened again when I turned on the ignition, before starting. I started the truck and all seemed okay but something strange happened when I put it in gear and it was like starting out in too high of a gear. I checked the code and it was transmission related so I called the guy that rebuilt the trans a couple years ago. He said to bring it in and shouldn’t be a problem as it was a short drive to his shop. The trans was stuck in one gear and wouldn’t shift up or down. He called me a few hours later and said the truck was ready and the problem was a relay. I don’t know why that didn’t occur to me as the code was generated before the truck was started, so a couple hundred bucks later all seems well.
