OK HERE GOES first time posting on this board!

I've got a 02 2500 extended cab 4x4 with snow plow package that I recently purchased with 30000 miles. had some transmission issues brought it back to dealer still under waranty they replaced valve body but I still think it holds first gear too long. Like when taking off accelerating hard it will come out of the power band and almost redline before shifting. The mechanic says that because of the plow package it holds 1st gear longer. :-{} I know my 93 250 auto with cummins shifted much sooner. Does anyone know at what rpm the auto should shift from 1st to 2nd?

Also should I buy the extended drive train warranty from Dodge while I still can?

Save your money on the extended warrenty. You can loosen the tv cable a little to make a earier shift. But take the money for the warrenty and save more. You will want a DTT latter anyway. Stockers suck. It doesn't matter if they are free they never perform like aftermarket.

Welcome to the TDR.

Fill out your profile and signature so we know where you are and how it is equiped.

It will be best to get a good trans guy to check the pressures on the trans and adjust the shift with some fine tuning.

You will be much happier with a tighter torque converter in the future.

for some reason the factory doesn't want these trans to perform like they are capable.

OK I think I filled out my profile & signature. now I just wanted some amo for when I go back to dealer to complain , wasn't sure if there was factory guide line on shift rpms. I've only got 3 months left on bumper to bumper and wanted to take advantage of that... So far on list : trans. ball joints, allignment, cup holder, backup lights, powersteering pump. Just want to get as much fixed with no $ out of pocket as possible. Thanks John

shift problems

I've got an 02 with plow pkg and it used to shift from 1st to 2nd fairly quick-around 1500. Just the other day it stopped shifting into 1st unless I was starting off after starting the engine and then it would not shift until about 2400. Ran the codes and it indicates the Governor Pressure Sensor(code 1762). I plan on dropping the pan and replacing the Pressure Sensor and Pressure Solenoid-they are both easy to change. Run your codes-turn key off/on 3x and leave on 3rd time(with engine off),the codes will show in the odometer window. Do a search for the codes on this website and you will find a complete list. You should get a 1693 which is generic telling you a code has been set and then you should get more codes narrowing down the exact problem-if there is one.
