:( I bought my 2000' in July of last year. After four visits with trany problems to the local stealer in Twin Falls, Id. , they finally agreed to rebuild my trany, NOT replace with a new one. This was in Oct. After talking to the mechanic that did the rebuild, I was finally relieved. After all, he told me that he is the best trany man that Dodge has on this side of the Mississippi! WOW! And also that his trany rebuilds last 100,000 mi. ! Now after 8000 mi. , my trany is up to the same old crap that it was doing before the so-called rebuild. I made a trip to the stealer and they informed me that I'm on my own now because the truck is out of warranty. This truck has only 38000 mi. Can anyone provide me with some advice on this?

ksterrett... he told me that he is the best trany man that Dodge has on this side of the Mississippi!

Unfortunately that's not saying much:rolleyes:

I don't know diddley about the Dodge warranty, as I am my own warranty station:D But it seems to me if you feel you have a valid claim, call Daimler/Chrysler and give 'em an earful.

Also call Don Ramer, at ATS Transmissions in Wheat Ridge, Co. 1-800-949-6002 They build the TripleLok Torque Converter and re-build a lot of trucks. Their TLTC is simply an amazing piece of engineering which won't slip, burn, peel, or over-heat. It WILL give you GREAT off-the-line response and firm lock-up.

I would get the managers ear, sales and service departments. If that does not work you can get in touch with the zone rep and see what he can do for you. The stock transmission set up right is a solid and reliable unit.

Looks to me like the transmission problems were documented with the dealer before the warranty was up. I would think the thing to do is contact the dealer and ask for the regional customer service representatives contact info. Take your problem on up the ladder and I'll bet they do something for you. Good luck.

If I'm not mistaken, You should have recieved a 2 year 24,000 mile extention on your transmission. 8,000 miles seems unexceptable to me. Call DC and they will chew on the Stealer. Ask to speak with an Area Rep. I had the same thing happen with a Ford and I had to bring up good old Henry Ford himself from the dead to get a response. Two weeks later, I had a new replacement transmission.

Tell them you got Lee Iakocca (SP) on hold... .

Re: Trany problems

Thanks everyone for the help! Greg Boardman, you are absolutly right. When the trany was rebuilt, this stealers sevice rep told me that I will have a 2 year/24000 mi warranty on it, BUT when I returned for my current problem, I was informed that my rebuilt was covered under the factory warranty and did not get the 2 yr. /24000 mi. Sounds like this dealer is truly a STEALER. Ken

Ken,

Give em heck!!!!!!! They must honor the warranty. And they will. Plus you need to look in the owners manual. It might be covered under the Drivetrain. Not sure about that. Good luck and keep us posted.

warranties

My understanding of warranties is if the problem arises under warranty they are still liable even if your off warranty. Like Dave said. They have three times to rectify even if your off warranty and then you can sue under lemon law(differs from state to state). I was fortunate by 100k all that i lost was a lift pump which they promptly replaced(five weeks altogether downtime), at no charge(wouldnt give me a rental). Thats one good thing bout my ferd. No probs with warranty and if it couldnt be done in two days I get a free rental car.

My D/C stealers were completely incompetent though. Dumb Dumb Dumb. Fortunate for me half my highschool buddies went to diesel mechanic school.

The Lexus dealer here provides another Lexus to use if your repair or service will take more than 2 hours. Also gave my wife a new set of tires under warranty when she complained about premature tire wear on the front, and did the whole 15K service for free because they took a week to locate matching tires. We had a RX300 loaner the whole time. Never heard of any dealer giving a free tire replacement after 15K miles.

Just got my '99 back from Daves' Diesel with one of Bill Kondolays' Transmisions. I am really enjoying the truck. Trans went out @ 45k. Call Bill

Great day for my trany!!

I spent the day in Nampa,Id. at Petersons Stampede Dodge with the North West Bombers TDR chapter, lots of great people and fun.

Also, I took my truck into the shop and talked to the sevice manager, Myrt. After talking to him he agreed that it was still under warranty and agreed to repair my trany!

I want to use this form to thank Myrt for his expertise and his professionalism and I would recommend his service department to everyone.

Also,if anyone asks me about the stealer in Twin Falls, Id. , avoid them like the plague, they treated me like CRAP and all this after my wife and I have bought five vehicles from this rip-off dealer.
