I have an Autometer z-series transmission temp gauge I used for the getrag that now I want to install in the 518 auto. I like the look of the way SamsRams 'Mad Max' did his with a T fitting so you retain the factory temp sensor. My question is, will I lose a bunch of transmission fluid when I remove the sensor to add the T fitting? Or is this something I need to do after a fluid change. As of now, the fluid is clean on a recent change by the previous owner. Thanks, this auto stuff is new to me so forgive the  newbee  questions :-laf .

You'll lose some fluid when you install the sender, but it'll probably be less than a quart (unless you're really slow:D). *But,* depending on the T-fitting you use and how the lines are bent, you might need to remove the line to get a little clearance. The T-fitting I used caught on the edge of the transmission pan, so I figured it was a good time to change the fluid anyway. ;)

Be very careful with the line, especially when removing and tightening the stock sender and T - the threaded bung on the line is just brazed on and can be broken off. I used a small pipe wrench to hold the bung while I installed the T.
