Yesterday I plowed with my 06 Mega cab for the first since replacing my F250. I put the extra cap trans pan and gauge on 6000 miles age. On my way to site running in 4wd the Trans temp made to 185. Got to site and let it sit in N so T/C would exchange fluid and temp drop to 130(the gauge acted as if a stuck thermostat popped open). Plowed 2 in of snow in a large parking lot as air temp got warmer and snow got heaver temps never went over 155. I also drove that truck across town to another job and did not see high temps again. Any idea on what may have caused spike and what is high limit for Trans life. Truck also has Smarty Jr set #3 and with tow mode.

Thanks

your plow may have acted as a wind block, when traveling and your cooler was not getting enough air through it. I have had the same problem with mine. I try and drop my plow as low as possible when traveling. This season tho I have some transmission cooling issues going on though. Was reaching just over 200 deg. when traveling. Took a look at the cooler today and its covered in fluid and all nasty on the outside. So I'm guessing I have a pin hole somewhere where or a blockage which is not allowing the transmission to cool properly. This is the first time it has ever got this hot when traveling tho.

Added to this to avoid another tread. My trans temp hit 200 the other night coming home. It has never gone over 160 with that driving. Fliud (factory ) has about 40K since adding high cap pain and gauge. Checked fluid it is full and pink. I know that this temp is no problem. It is the new high that me concerned. Thoughts, should I sevice the trans are back flushes a good idea.

Thanks
