Auto Trans Trouble Reflash did not fix it

Help

Auto trans is shifting in and out of 2nd & 3rd gears at 30 MPH & again at 50 MPH. If I push petal to the metal at 80 MPH it jumps in and out of OD. This is happening with OD on or off. Any ideas what the problem is.

Well I got the reflash 18-02-99 yesterday and it did not help The Mechanic no thinks its the APPS

Are you sure it is jumping in & out of gear? Sounds more like it could be going in & out of lockup. 98 and 99 models had problems with this, and TSB 18-02-99 was the fix. Turns out electrical "noise" from the diodes in the alternator were causing erratic TCC operation.

Im not sure how lock up works but this also happens when the Over Drive button is pushed off does the T/C lock and un lock in this mode.

At 30 MPH the Engine seems to rev monentarily then drop about 125 RPM'S at 50 MPH same thing happens except RPM's drop 125 to 250 them back up again.

Yes, lockup occurs in 3rd also.



What you are describing is a textbook case of a faulty lockup signal.

So what I need is a reflash to hold me over until I can afford Bill K's 91% trans, I'll get one tomarrow ande post later.

Reflash did not help

Well I got the 18-02-99 and other updates yesterday and it did not solve the problem. There computer said the reflash was all ready installed. Well the Mechanic thinks its the APPS and is going to put one in Monday. If it works it cost me if not no charge.

tj , thats mighty nice of them , i hear the APPS is about 300 , plus labor ... good luck ... ask them to do the flash again , it may not have taken the first time ... .



what you described is the lockup problem ... yes , the TC locks in 3rd as well as OD ... note , the fact that it seems to be trying to lock at 30 mph tells me that the APPS is causing the problem ... before you get DTT or anyone stuff for that matter get this fixed , the nexw components are going to fix this , its software related ... good i hate computers

Thanks John,

The Mechanic is going to re- try the flash Monday and install the APPS. He also mentioned the brake switch can cause this T/C lock up trouble and will check it out also.

This Mechanic really empresses me and people are waiting in line for Paul to work on thier vehicles. The owner of the Dealer ship told me that Paul is the best diagnostic and over all Mechanic has ever had in his employ and the way the man spoke of him while we where at lunch says it all to me.
