2001 auto trans will not downshift when coming to a stop. If I use the lever to select first gear it is there and good. When driving at highway speed and I depress the throttle the trans will downshift. The oil is clean and is not burnt. There are no fault codes present. Does anyone have any ideas?

I just had the same thing happen to mine a few weeks ago, turned out to be the governor solenoid. Mine threw a code though. I would have it checked by a trans shop since they have the equipment to check it properly though.

Get yourself a governor pressure sensor and governor solenoid. Drop the transmission pan and look up. They are right there. You can't miss them and you don't have to drop the valvebody. The parts are abour $150-175. Total time is less than an hour. It is an easy fix.
