Hey all, just wanted to say I've been with y'all for over a year now, and never had the need to post myself, as I was always able to get the info from the forums--thanks.
Now for my problem. Truck's a 99 SWB QC 4x4 Auto and it's on the second transmission. At mile 22,508 Gene's Chrysler, (Fairbanks, AK) replaced everything except the transmission housing. I went for a vacation to the sandbox at Uncle Sam's expense, and came home a few months ago. Now the truck has 27,000 and change, (mostly my wife while I was gone) and the transmission is doing the same thing again. At moderate throttle it runs up to 2500rpm before it shifts from 2nd to 3rd, and does the same thing from 3rd to 4th. When the TC locks-up, the engine seems to bog out, a feeling I never had on the first transmission. I've heard of dealers de-tuning engines, but I can't find a TSB or ECM change placard in the engine bay saying it was done. The truck is due for repair at the end of this month, but I'm already wondering what I can do when this transmission goes away like the other two. I've mentioned my 'free' truck to the service staff, and only one person laughed and asked what color I wanted when the next transmission failed. What measures do I have to take when this transmission fails to make them give me another vehicle? Thoughts anybody? Also, if anyone else has work done at Gene's in Fairbanks, give me your thoughts please. Thanks...
