well as so many of you have predicted in the past, the old dodge auto finally gave up... with absolutely no warning, it would quit, in any gear... after stopping or shutting down, it would go again for a mile or so... had the fluid changed and the filter was completely sucked flat and stopped up with metal shavings... i have an extended warranty so i drove it to the dealer... ran perfect... dealer says the bearing for OD was wearing out and that caused the forward clutch pak to overheat and start throwing metal... Does this sound right to you experts... ??? I have a BD pressure lok that was put on at about 46K... i now have 58K... . the warranty is covering all but the fluid... dealer is also replacing the torque converter... i had trans temp gauge put on at same time as the BD lok and the transmission temp NEVER gets over 180/190 and not that high for long... . So wonder why the temp did not indicate hotter... oh well, maybe i can afford a new 2003 with the new hvy duty auto next year..... :)

yup, junk converters. i'm putting too much power through mine, although i have an unlock switch. it's not a matter of "if" she goes, but a matter of "when?!":{ :{

I also have one of though 100K DC diesel wrap warranties that cover the transmission. I just hope if mine goes, it does it in the 1st 100K miles. Sounds like the dealer treated you OK.

When you run metal through the transmission the torque converter needs to be replaced with everything else.

Where is your temperture sensor located out of curiosity?

Cummins4life, i have a banks monster exhaust, K&N filter ,,BD pressure lok and a superships box... this gave me an increase of 10. 2 HP at the rear wheels on the dyno... . really not much is it... the torque also increased somewhat... . i am sending the superchips back to the factory to be tested... As we all know, the K&N filter brags about 10 HP and the Banks monstor exhaust brags about 10 HP increase and the "box" brags about 40 to 50 HP... . Well gee whiz batman, i sure can't find that much anywhere... ... . KatDiesel, the temp sending unit for the transmission is located right where Banks say put it,, at a location somewhere on the right rear of the transmission... The banks reps that installed it all, said the port is already on the transmission and that is where Banks recommends it... This fuel injection shop is an authorized Banks, BD, EZ, etc dealer... they carry the whole line of everybodies stuff and they also do the propane jump up and bite me additions... lol... . I drove a 3/4T Ford PSD with the propane and it really does jump up and goes like a jet off a carrier catapult... very impressive... . My DC dealer did replace the cluthes and the TC and the pumps and supposedley did a complete rebuild. . he showed me where the bushings inside the ?planetary? forward and reverse gears had came loose from the inside of the gears shaft and that caused the clutches (little thin things) to turn blue from the heat... so everything inside was replaced. . the TC was a DC remanufactured one... Are they any good?????

:rolleyes:
