Auto transmission fluid

I'd like to get some idea of how quickly the trans fluid circilates thru the system from the pan thru the trans and cooler and back. My temp pickup is in the MagHytech pan.

Muffler coming off this week.

The flow rates on a stock valve body is approx 1. 8 gpm - 2. 2 gpm out of lockup.

2. 4 - 2. 8 gpm of transmission oil flowing through the cooler lines in lockup

imagine it like this , lets say you have a 2 gallon bucket of water, you are pumping it out using a 1/2" line, then back into the same bucket. I honestly do not know exactly how long it would take to completely cycle the oil since it is being pumped out of and back into the same bucket.

If that makes any sense at all.

Chrysler sets their safety mark at 230-250 degrees before your temp gauge will light up in the dash.

I consider 200 degrees in the pan a danger point, and when measuring out of the front cooler line comming out of the transmission I consider 285 to be a danger point.

Hey Bill thanks for the reply. The 200 degree mark gives me a good idea of what to look for. With out a load the gauge barely moves. I think it must cycle thru fairly quickly.

The sending unit is in the pan for factory light correct? houseing... .

95 & earlier Dodge rams, the temp sensor is located in the front cooler lines as it is comming out of the transmission

96& later Dodge rams, is located in the pan on the governor body assembly.

This can be serviced without removing the vb.
