auto transmission, how old is it?

was crawling around under my truck (95 auto. ) after i first bought it and found a skew (if that's what its called?, for scanning) label on it that has date ?-?-98, could this be a replacement transmission, the truck has 170K, but has firm crisp shifts. when get my new plate should i just run it, or upgrade the transmission immediately, i only want additional pulling power for my 30' Jayco, so i'm not looking to go too radical... . what plate would be best?

My '95 also has a sticker with a date later than manufacture, it is on the line to the cooler close to the AT. It came with a recall to install a check valve to keep the TC from draining while parked.

this sticker was actually on the body of the transmission? i may pull it off and scan it and post it to see if any one can decipher it?
