Hey folks,

Took a look through the 03' tech manual and an interesting point to note that there is NO mention of the 47 series auto transmission in the book. Is this a Major oversight or do the current trucks have a 46 or 48 series in them already??? Those of you with the juice box see if you can find the model ID tag on the transmission and see what is says. Just curious to know.

All standard output diesels come with a 47RE as of 2003. In Early 04' you can get a new 48RE transmission behind the high outputs. The 48RE is a beefed 47RE. Now I don't know if this 48RE will replace the 47RE behind the standard output diesel and V10's, but for now if you want a diesel with an auto it's a 47RE and standard output or high output and six speed.

Greetings,

I understand what they are telling us but..... In the service manual that I just got for my 03' there is NOTHING about the 47 transmission in there at all. Thats why I wanted to check to see if they are already putting in the 48 transmission. I was just curious as I have the 6 speed. It would be VERY interesting if in fact they ARE installing the 47 series now because if you need to fix one there is nothing in the new tech manuals to tell you how to do it:eek:  . Way to go DC:(

My window sticker said 47RE and I was underneath the truck while changing the oil and the transmission has a aluminum housing and I heard the 48RE will be a steel/iron housing.

I was told that in January you can get the HO with an automatic. I was told this by a sales manager and seen it in writing in the dealers order book.
