How much is too much?? How can you tell what it is set at now?? Going to change my fluid here in a week or so, thought I would turn the line pressure a little, heard it helps 2-3 shifts.

pressure adj.

Before you adjust your pressure you must know what it is. What it is supposed to be may well not be what it is. It should be set around 60 psi in drive idling. I have seen some as low as near 50. I believe that DTT's website covers this adjustment. Adjusting too much can effect the shift points. Also adjusting pressure too high can affect the amount of converter charge and lube oil flow. There are test ports on the right side, I think if you went to a trans. shop, they might be able to screw a guage into one of the ports, I think they record highest pressure, might cost a little, but you'd know where you're at.

SLewis, there are three ports on the passenger side of the transmission just above the pan. You want the middle one, put a gauge capable of at least 75 PSI in it and read the pressure at idle in drive. Be safe in doing this please, chocks and emergency brake and someone with foot on the brakes is my prefered method. Report your pressure back or look on the DTT site for adjustment procedure and max pressures. Hope this helps.
