Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Auto Transmission Owners

I do a lot of shifting with my transmission, primarily from drive to neutral while sitting at red lights (which there is a lot of on my way to and from work). I also shift from second gear occasionally. Recently I've noticed that it seems harder to shift the column lever. I was wondering if there is a way to lubricate the shift linkage. I reviewed the shop manual and I've looked at the linkage and I don't really see much to lube. Has anyone experienced similar problems and found a way to resolve them? I thought about spraying the shift column under the hood with something like white lithium grease in a spray can but I'm not sure that would be a prudent thing to do - any advice other than going to the dealer? I do the same as you. When trolling thru town with my loaded gooseneck at 30 mph, I shift her down into 2nd gear and stay there till hitting 40. The linkage has been know to squeak, so hitting her with some grease shouldnt hurt a thing.



I put my first TC in at 81,000 along with a BD VB. didnt touch her again till 241,000. Put in a DTT 89% TC, a Trans-go Shift kit , 2nd gear band, and a new VB wiring harness, and away I went. 305,680+ miles with still the original guts of the transmission except for the parts mentioned.
