Have a 2001 3500 4x4. Truck shifts from 1st to 2nd fine, but when RPMs reach 2000 and slightly above, shifting begins to sputter then eventually shifts to higher gear and is fine. Any insights?
Diesel Transmission Technology - DTT Performance Diesel Transmission and Power Accessories give these folks a call. They are very customer oriented and "even if you're not a customer" they'll give you a good idea what to look for. It's probably a simple thing like a solenoid sticking or ???. Good luck. Don't forget to post back what you figured out for the rest of us to learn from.
Without too much information it sounds like you might have a governor pressure problem. If you back off the throttle a little bit when it is doing this does it shift? Probably would be a good idea to get it into a shop that can read the pressures for you. That is going to give a lot more information. You can also check the computer for codes. On a 2001 truck you can do it on the digital odometer. You put the key in and turn the truck to the on position, not start just on. You do that two more times for three in total. On the third time you leave the key in the on position and if there is any codes it will display them in your odometer. Write any codes down and I will see if I can get you what they mean.
