Hi, I know this got a lot of general coverage, but I was unable to find a clear answer. I was hoping to prevent a major issue, as the symptoms may indicate.
The automatic transmission on my 2001 does not respond immediately, when going from park to drive. This is not a continuous problem, and occurs occasionally even when the truck is warm. There seems to be a split lag between the time gas is applied and the actual movement of the rig. At that point, a jerk or jolt is felt, and then she rolls.
I read that a governor and governor solenoid may be replaced to help with this, but my local shop says they don't do that kind of detailed service, and that the issue may be with the seals, which according to them requires a rebuild. I was planning to start with a basic fluid/filter change, and use synthetic.
Everything on the truck is stock so far.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
