Kantdrive55,

I talked with Jim (Cumminntstrkn) and he told me that he is running cryo'd shafts. He was pretty sure that he had a race trans and Jim's a pretty smart guy.

I started this thread hoping to get some good constructive comments about these trans setups ... . well . . guess that's not to happen ... I again apologize for making this a poll ... . hindsight is 20/20 ... in any case ... I've ridden in and driven a DTT equiped truck ... . very nice ... . my intentions were to go to DTT when this trans failed ... and fail it did ... however ... talking to the folks at ATS and some of you who are familiar with the setup ... I decided to go the ATS route. I spoke with ATS today for an hour or there abouts about their product ... I was impressed . . I'm not a moron nor am I a rocket scientist - but I can tell you they have put a great deal of thought and engineering in their product.

I'll let ya'll know how this baby is when I get everything installed and take her for a run ... . hopefully we'll get it in next Tuesday ... then I'm off to St Louis and back to VA ... good long run to see how everything works ... then the real test will be at the Big Rig Nat's in MD on the 27th . .

Thanks for all the comments and those who helped me make the decision ... . still look forward to talking to a few of you I haven't been able to contact ...

Thank you Keith! We need people who are more open to try new things! I am most likely going to try out the ATS stuff myself. I really like my DTT transmission, and I will be keeping it for a spare, and for later upgrading and comparison. Don and Clint are very good, honest people to work with, and I wish everyone who doubted that would just call them. Ask to speak with Don or Clint. I feel like they really know what they are doing, and have some very hopeful technology to offer us. If all goes through, I will post quarter mile times, before and after, dyno before and after, and tow my trailer a few hundred miles before and after. That is the plan, now I need to see if it will be finantially possible in the near future.

To all potential transmission upgrade customers,

ATS, BD, DTT???? All I know is that in my career, my greatest successes would not have been possible without some failure along the way. That’s the nature of all business. It results from taking risks, putting your reputation on the line. Obviously, these companies have earned the respect and passion of many of our readers, that’s why these discussions often times degrade to shouting matches between different factions. Just don’t lose sight of the fact that all these companies are getting praised and criticized because they’ve taken the risks necessary to succeed. And the biggest risk? They’ve stood behind their products and have taken valuable time to help dummies like me when we’ve needed help. We’re not all mechanically inclined, so many of us rely on the people behind the product, our trust in them is what has sold us. And while I’ve not worked with BD, I can tell you that I personally trust Bill K, Clint C, and Don R. I use Bill’s transmission and love it, and DTT’s hands on approach keeps me comfortable with them. Also, I live near ATS and they’ve been rock solid with me on other truck issues, I don’t doubt their transmission’s are great. They too treat you like a friend. I guess this is all just a long way of saying that, in these forums, we should all offer these companies the courtesy of respect and keep criticism in perspective, and that no matter which company you choose, you will no doubt be happy with the performance of your product and the customer service you receive.

Regards, JRG

Why dont you ask Cumminstrkin how his transmission is working? Or Adam Sprague these guys to my knowledge are close to the highest hp guys out there, and they are running BD trannies right off the shelf. I think that says something????????

Are these sponsorship trannies? Or did they Pay for them... ... ?

Any one who gets free trannies or is "sponsored" really does not have an opnion and really should be considered a vendor for that particular part. Just my opnion let the record show I paid for all my parts.

I dunno about trannies but I'm gonna test out a few other parts;)

wow i ignore one transmission thread and i'm all over it.

1st of all i have never said any transmission is indestructable, even my bd transmission. with the power i'm making it will break, i have said this many times. i don't care if bd builds it or ats or dtt if i try hard enough i'm sure i could make it fail. that doesn't mean that these arn't good transmission's it just means these co's are doing the best with what they have to work with(47rh). who would have thought that these things would be stronger hydraulically, than mechanically.

yes bd gave me a transmission, i think enough guys on these forums know me to know that i'm honest. so far i can't break this thing, which impresses me too know end. i took a chance on bd as they did on me, and i couldn't be happier with them as a co. steve troyan built me a heck of a transmission. brian told me this transmission is available off the shelf, but they call it a race prepped transmission. it's not cheap but it is holding up great. next week i'm going up there for dyno days, if anyone wants a ride or wants to see how much hp my truck will make come on up. we will be drag racing friday night at mission raceway. and dynoing on sat the 20th. this is a mustang dyno not a dyno jet this dyno loads the truck.

just some info on the testing i have done so far. it has around 6000miles on it. 1 sled pull(i got 2nd) and over 200 25psi 4wd launches. i have yet to be at the track but i street race all the time. after talking with stephan i feel my truck, if it will hook on my slicks should run 12. 80's on #2 and maybe 12. 50's on the juice. although we will have to wait and see.

imo there is nothing wrong with sponsorship as long as you are honest. which is why i feel bd felt good about letting me try and break there stuff. when i break this transmission i will be honest about it. but just becuase i break it doesn't mean it's a pos. !!
