We have one in a friends truck 2000 2500 quad cab 4x4 with =60hp up-grade at 70,000 miles, that shudders going into 3rd mostly at1200-1500 rpm, and only then, first I dropped the pan found nothing in the pan that looked bad. I redid the band adjustments to the factory settings. and installed new filter and filled it with mopar atf+4 . any ideas on whats going on???

if its a stock transmission than the converter is shuddering i believe.

he needs to upgrade the transmission with an aftermarket converter and valve body atleast

mine only lasted a few months like that before i slipped the clutch packs. i was only able to stay in first gear to limp home but it was gone.

thats the only bad thing about the dodge truck. you cannot upgrade without doing the transmission work.

I agree, if it's stock it's the converters sliiping and time for an upgrade, I have a Goerend conversion scheduled on my 01' with 140k (lasted way longer than I ever imagined it would)

It's getting worse.

Hey guys.

I'm having the same problem but it's also happening when I'm going into overdrive. It almost seems like it's trying to change gears and it's getting worse.

I live in Francestown, NH and drive to Andover, MA... anyone have any recomendations of someone who can help me fix this? Quickly?

Should I be looking at a new, rebulit or just upgraded transmission also?

If you're getting a shudder going into overdrive like mine is it is the torque converter giving out, it's more pronounced when towing, I have my rebuild scheduled for after the 1st of the year, you might do a search and see if Goerend has a certified installer in your area, should only take a day, transmission w/o the upgraded input shaft is $3,550 and about $400 to install, you probaly don't need the upgraded shaft unless you drag race

I have a 98. 5 and pull a 26 foot TT with it. When It shifted into od it would flair and shudder as it tried to engage. The over run clutch was going bad. I put in a shift kit to boost pressure and give it a firmer shift, I also blocked the accumulator so that it would bang od without any delay. This fixed my problems for now but I know that it will not be much longer that I can get away with this cheep fix. My truck has almost 200k on the original 47re.

i believe the od is computer controlled. my accumulator is blocked off also but my od does not bang in. i have a lock up switch but is still doesnt lock up right away.
